The word “Chakra” comes from the Sanskrit word “wheel” or “disk”.

According to traditional Indian medicine, Chakras are the turning wheel-like vortices or energy centers that exist in our subtle body. They are considered to be the focal points of reception and transmission of energy.

Each organ, the entire body and it’s functions, are connected to our chakras by the nerves and by the endocrine glands associated with them.

Because the chakra system is the central processing center, blockage in the chakras usually leads to disorders in the physical body, mind and spirit.

Chakras can be open, closed, excessive or insufficient.
